Investment banker, active business angel; and fintech, deeptech, defence, blockchain and cryptocurrencies specialist, Phil joined Avolta as a Senior Partner in 2017. Born and raised in America, Phil graduated from Carleton University, before attending Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris. He is also a graduate of the IHEDN (French War College) and ESDC (European Defence College). Phil’s professional career spans more than 25 years, with leadership roles at investment banks in London, Singapore and Paris. At BNP Paribas, Phil ran the global equity, derivatives, institutional and hedge fund flow sales. And as Managing Director of Equity Markets at Merrill Lynch, he ran the French stockbroker and EMEA liquidity and derivatives sales, as well as serving on the board of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets (S.A.). More recently, Phil was CEO of SME exchange Alternativa, co-founder of France FinTech, and a founding member of non-profit EUROCROWD (European Crowdfunding Network). Phil remains an active investor in tech companies, including VistaPrint (US), Attenda (UK), LandEx (EE) and Pepins (SW).
At Avolta, Phil has executed and participated in key M&A projects and fundraising deals such as Fundimmo, Raizers, Clearnox ,Unseenlabs, Blockchain.io and Citowise. His areas of expertise include fintech, deeptech, crypto platforms, aerospace and pan-european tech deals. Phil is an elected official in the city of Neuilly-sur-Seine, where he holds the delegation for Technology and has deployed the first blockchain-based voting platform for the city.
